Koor lives in Tucson, Arizona and works as a Licensed Practical Nurse. He is currently attending Pima Community College and the University of Arizona to become a Registered Nurse. Koor, Samuel, and Gabriel returned home in 2007 to reconnect with surviving members of their families. Koor raised thousands of dollars to bring medical supplies and mosquito nets on his homecoming trip.
Upon his return to the United States he founded the Ubuntu Organization, a nonprofit incorporated in the State of Arizona, with a mission to provide health education and services to people in Southern Sudan. In 2008, he returned to Southern Sudan to treat patients at the Akon clinic, provide health education, and supervise under-trained clinic staff so that they could continue the work after he left. Akon clinic serves three villages: Ariang, Lang, and Mayen Pajok, Koor’s native village. Koor is working in partnership with HOPE for Ariang in health education. He can be reached at kgchol@hotmail.com.
